Kostal invests 50 million euros in North Macedonia and will pay global corporate tax

07 march 2025

German auto parts manufacturer Kostal is investing 50 million euros in North Macedonia, expanding its production facilities in the country, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Money.bg. The project is expected to create more than 250 new jobs by 2028. Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski visited the company's plant in Ohrid and welcomed its decision to pay the global corporate tax rate of 15%, which will result in additional revenue for the local budget.

The expansion of Kostal's production capacity is aimed at producing components for plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles for Volkswagen, as well as systems and roof modules for Mercedes. The company's exports are expected to exceed 200 million euro in 2025 and reach over 500 million euro by the end of the decade.

Kostal Macedonia currently has 1,150 employees at its Ohrid plant, and the planned expansion will provide new opportunities for the local workforce. The company started operations in the country in 2016 and specialises in the production of electronics and electromechanical components for the automotive industry.

In Bulgaria, Kostal is one of the largest employers in Pazardzhik and has a division in Smolyan. The second plant in the country was opened in 2017 after an investment of 12 million euro. The German corporation produces components for leading automotive brands such as Volkswagen, Peugeot-Citroen, Daimler, Ford, BMW and General Motors.
