GapMinder invests 1 million euros in Romanian AI startup Parol

10 january 2025

Venture capital fund GapMinder Fund II has announced a €1 million investment in Romanian start-up Parol, which is developing an artificial intelligence (AI) solution to automate medical documentation, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from start-up.ro. Parol's platform transforms medical processes by generating complete and accurate medical records in real time based on doctor-patient conversations.

Parol was founded in 2022 by a team of innovators including Claudiu Poundru (CEO), Alex Livadaru (COO), Alex Tepes (CTO) and Valentin Ichim (Sales Manager). The technology uses advanced AI models to accurately understand and transcribe complex medical conversations, seamlessly integrating into existing clinical workflows. This significantly reduces the time medical professionals spend on administrative tasks and allows them to focus on patients.

This is the second investment round for Parol after the startup raised €500,000 from The Mavers Ventures and other investors in 2022. The company's total funding has now reached €1.2 million.

GapMinder stresses that the investment is part of their strategy to support AI solutions with real value and global potential. "Parol is an excellent example of a company using AI to address specific needs in the healthcare sector. This positions it as a leader in the fast-growing niche of medical technology," points out Robert Herskovic, Chief Investment Officer at GapMinder.
