The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a credit line for the Economic Bank that will help small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in northern Macedonia, Balkanengineer.com has learned from Izvoz.mk.

EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso and Economic Bank CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors Diomidis Nikoletopoulos signed a 4 million eur.  credit line agreement. It will aim to help SMEs strengthen their operations after the Covid-19 pandemic by investing in high-performance technologies and services.

The programme will also support the green economy in North Macedonia, encouraging investments to improve energy efficiency. Around 70% of the funding will be allocated to investments in energy-saving and green technologies, while the remainder will be used to support investments in automation, increased productivity, product quality and safety.

MSEs will be able to benefit from grants of up to 15 % of the loan amount provided by Luxembourg, Norway and the United States, among others.
