Dutch automotive group VDL is expanding its production facility at TIRZ Skopje with a third phase of expansion

Dutch automotive giant VDL Bus & Coach has officially launched the third phase of its large-scale investment program in North Macedonia, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Macedonian media. The expansion project will be carried out within the Technology and Industrial Development Zone (TIRZ) near Skopje, and the news was also confirmed by the management of the Free Zones Directorate.

Moving into this next phase is a direct response to the increased global demand for buses, specialized vehicles, and components for public transportation manufactured by the Dutch conglomerate. The new phase of the project envisages a significant expansion of existing production capacity, the implementation of modernized technological processes, and the optimization of logistics flows within the industrial park. Through this investment, VDL Bus Macedonia will increase its production volume, which is intended entirely for export to markets in Western Europe and the rest of the world.

In addition to technological upgrades, the expansion will also lead to the creation of new jobs. The company plans to hire dozens of additional specialists, with a focus on highly qualified engineering and technical personnel to manage the modern automated systems on the production lines. The project is being implemented in full compliance with current standards for energy efficiency and environmental control.

VDL’s long-term presence in the country and the launch of this latest investment phase reinforce North Macedonia’s position as an attractive destination for the automotive and components industry in Southeast Europe.
