Demand for electric and hybrid cars in Bulgaria has grown in 2020, BalkanEngineer.com learned from the PR agency New Media Team. According to the Bulgarian Traffic Police, as of December 2020, 1876 electric and about 10000 hybrid vehicles were registered in the country.
For the past three years, nearly 200 charging stations have been built throughout the country. This was realized so as to increase sales, as well as to increase the growth rate and demand for electric vehicles in the coming years.
However, in the first nine months of 2020, registrations of new cars in Europe have decreased by 29%. According to analyst company JATO Dynamics, in October 2020, hybrid and electric cars were 27% of the new vehicle market in the European Union - a value higher than the one of diesel cars.
