Romanian car manufacturer Dacia received 1500 orders for its first electric model Spring in the first 4 hours after officially putting it on sale, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Romania-Insider.com. This is more than the total volume of electric vehicles sold in Romania in 2019, when individuals and companies bought a total of 1500 electric vehicles.

Last year, the market reported an increase in sales, reaching nearly 2900 cars. In the first two months of 2021 sales increased by another 30% compared to the same period in 2020, and this year it will depend mainly on the total value of government vouchers for the purchase of electric vehicles.

Romania provides EUR 10 000 vouchers for the purchase of electric vehicles through the Rabla Plus program. For Dacia Spring, in particular, with a starting price of EUR 18 100, the government subsidies cover more than 50% of the car's price. Thus, the customers can buy the new model for less than EUR 10 000.
