Chinese tire manufacturer Linglong Tyre is investing in a further expansion of its industrial complex in Serbia

Chinese tire manufacturer Linglong Tyre is planning a new large-scale expansion of its production complex in Zrenjanin, Serbia, BalkanEngineer.com learned from E-Kapija. The project envisages expanding the factory onto an additional 70 hectares of land located immediately adjacent to the company’s current site in the Southeast Industrial Zone. The news was confirmed by the city’s mayor, Simo Salapura, who announced that final negotiations are currently underway for the implementation of the new investment.

Serbia’s Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure has already released the draft amendment to the detailed urban plan for the industrial zone for public consultation. The document provides for the construction of entirely new industrial and auxiliary facilities, divided into several production phases. The plan includes additional workshops for the production of tires for passenger cars and trucks, as well as a specialized line for tires for agricultural and industrial machinery.

In addition to the production facilities, the project also calls for the construction of new automated warehouses for raw materials and finished products, as well as the creation of a dedicated area for recycling waste materials and rubber compounds generated by the production process. To meet its own energy needs and optimize costs, the company plans to install large-scale photovoltaic power plants on the roofs of the facilities, alongside the construction of new distribution substations and a modern wastewater treatment plant.

This expansion marks another major step for Linglong in Serbia, where the company already operates on a 100-hectare site and employs over 2,400 people. The Chinese group’s initial investment exceeded $1 billion, making the project one of the largest greenfield industrial investments in Serbia’s history. The future highway connecting Belgrade, Zrenjanin, and Novi Sad is expected to further facilitate logistics and the export of finished products to the European market.
