A Chinese company to invest EUR 200 million in copper mining in Serbia

The Chinese company Zijin Mining plans to upgrade and expand the Serbian copper mining complex Zijin Bor Copper in Bor, Eastern Serbia, BalkanEngineer.com learned from SEENews.com. The investment amounts to EUR 200 million.

 

 

The company is currently preparing a project to increase the annual capacity of the complex from 80 000 t to 200 000 t of copper concentrate over a four-year period. In addition, Zijin Mining will also invest in the purchase of special conversion machines that will increase the purity of the copper product from the current 62% to 99.8%.

 

The Chinese company also plans to build a new plant for the production of sulfuric acid that will increase the capacity of the complex up to 1 million tons of sulfuric acid annually.
