Burgas Airport has resumed operations following the completion of a major 50 million euro investment project to modernize its infrastructure. The project includes a complete renovation of the runway, adjacent taxiways, and the implementation of modern navigation and lighting systems, BalkanEngineer.com learned from the economic portal Money.bg.

The investment program aims to bring airport facilities into compliance with the latest international flight safety standards and increase capacity to serve heavy-class aircraft. In addition to the pavement engineering work, the renovation also includes the modernization of baggage handling systems and improvements to the energy efficiency of the terminal buildings.

The project aims to optimize the airport’s operations during the busy summer season and enhance the region’s competitiveness as a transportation hub. The reconstruction was carried out in accordance with the flight schedule, with work proceeding in several phases to ensure uninterrupted passenger service.
