A special fund will support the activities and development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the border regions of Bulgaria and Serbia during the future programming period 2021-2027, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Enterprise.bg. Companies will be able to receive project grants of up to EUR 100 000.

The funds for the cross-border cooperation program between the two countries are expected to be approved by the end of next year. Small and medium-sized enterprises will be able to benefit from the financing to support and modernize their production, increase capacity and competitiveness, and reach new markets. The aim of the project is to support the economic development of the regions by promoting local business.

There are projects already implemented as part of the program amounting to around EUR 26 million, with the most funds acquired by the Bulgarian municipality of Montana, as well as the Serbian Niš and Zaječar.
