By mid-2020, Bulgaria will launch a frequency resource allocation procedure for mobile operators to start building their 5G mobile networks. This was made clear during the first ever forum for the 5G deployment in the country, BalkanEngineer.com learned from the organizers.

The forum, called “5G: Smart Transformation and Growth”, was organized by the Bulgarian Communications Regulation Commission. The event was attended by representatives of the three Bulgarian telecom operators – A1, Telenor and Vivacom, as well as the International Mobile Operators Association (GSMA).

A survey presented during the forum shows that by 2028 the introduction of 5G technologies will lead to a growth of the Bulgarian economy and to a contribution of nearly USD 12 billion in all possible sectors of the economy, including healthcare and agriculture.
