Automotive components manufacturer Joyson Safety Systems is selling its production facility in Romania

Global automotive safety systems manufacturer Joyson Safety Systems has officially announced its decision to sell its production plant in the Romanian city of Hunedoara, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Romania-Insider.com. The move is part of the company’s broader strategy to restructure its global operations and optimize production capacity in Europe in order to increase efficiency in the dynamic automotive sector.

The Hunedoara plant specializes in the production of automotive safety components, including parts for seat belts and steering systems for leading European automakers. Despite the planned sale of the assets, Joyson Safety Systems’ management assures that a strategic buyer is being sought to take over the facility as a going concern. The goal is to preserve the site’s production profile, ensure continuity in deliveries to customers, and protect the jobs of the local staff employed there.

The company, owned by China’s Ningbo Joyson Electronic, has significant industrial assets in Romania and operates other manufacturing facilities in the country, including in Arad and Timișoara. The sale of the Hunedoara plant reflects the ongoing transformations in the global automotive supply chain, where companies are rapidly consolidating their operations. The transaction is expected to attract interest from international industrial groups seeking to expand their presence in Southeast Europe, taking advantage of the region’s developed infrastructure and skilled workforce.
