The activities for the BRT system project in Skopje continue

In March 2021, the Macedonian capital Skopje will receive the preliminary design and the accompanying documentation for the first line of the future Bus Rapid Transist (BRT) System in the city, BalkanEngineer.com learned from the news agency Meta.mk. The first line will be 12.81 km long and will consist of 21 bus stops and 2 bus terminals.

 

 

The first tranche of the loan for the project, which will be granted by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), amounts to EUR 47.6 million. The funds will be used for the preparation of the main project, the construction of the first line, as well as for future landfills, reconstruction of boulevards and streets along the route.

 

Low-floor buses, traffic management systems, fleet, passenger information and ticket collection will also be delivered.

 

The other part of the funds - in the amount of EUR 22.4 million, will be invested in the realization of the second bus line.
