Second biogas power plant was launched in Macedonia
Macedonia successfully launched the second for the country power plant running on biogas. It happened in the village of Novaci in the region of Pelagonia, learned BalkanEngineer.com from BalkanGreenEnergyNews.com. The new electric capacity is powered by biogas derived from natural fermentation of biodegradable waste materials from cow farm near the plant,, both owned by the agricultural company ZIK Pelagonija. At the opening ceremony, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water of Macedonia Mihail Cvetkov expressed hope that the number of such projects will grow in the future and the state will be able to provide funding for even more of them.

Made in Serbia: Graphene membrane makes conventional mics “hear” ultrasonic frequencies
Serbian scientists developed a microphone based on graphene, which is 32 times more sensitive than conventional mics and is able to capture even ultrasonic frequencies, learned BalkanEngineer.com from the popular scientific portal Phys.org. In the study done at the University of Belgrade in Serbia, researchers grew a thin layer of graphene of 30 atoms thick and used it as a replacement for the thin nickel membrane that is found in conventional microphones.

Fully electric buses will operate on the streets of Belgrade from 2016
Serbian capital’s public transportation company GSP Beograd signed a contract with Chariot Motors from Sofia, Bulgaria, for the delivery of five electric buses, learned BalkanEngineer.com from BalkanGreenEnergyNews. The solo low-floor vehicles will come to Belgrade within 5 months. Mayor Siniša Mali said there are 700 buses in the city streets, spending three million litres of fuel a month. The four kilometre line in the central part of the city will be the first in any European capital to be served only by electric buses.

Polyethylene recycling plant launched in Serbia
New plant for recycling of polyethylene products was officially commissioned in the village of Mladenov, Northwestern Serbia, learned BalkanEngineer.com from ekapija.com. The building of the recycling plant began in 2013. Today its number of personnel is about 130 employees. The construction works on the recycling plant, part of the recycling enterprises of Romanian company Greentech finished with the completion of the facility for hot-washing PET flakes, and the lines for waste water treatment.

Airbus Helicopters will build their latest model H215 in Romania
Airbus Helicopters will assemble the latest H215 helicopter model at the new 10 000 sqm factory based in Brasov, central Romania, announced Romania-Insider.com for BalkanEngineer.com. Construction works of second bridge over Sava River has begun in Serbia
