The construction materials manufacturer Fortis Technical Textiles will build a new geotextile factory in the city of Svilajnac, Serbia

Fortis Technical Textiles has received official approval from the Environmental Impact Assessment Agency for the project to build a new production and administrative complex in Svilajnac, Serbia, BalkanEngineer.com learned from the business portal eKapija.com. The decision, published by the municipal administration in Svilajnac, gives the green light for construction to begin; the project involves the construction of a modern factory for technical fabrics and meshes for various applications.

The new industrial center will be located on a cadastral plot with a total area of nearly 2.17 ha. Fortis Technical Textiles’ investment program calls for phased construction, which will encompass a total of eight facilities with a combined gross floor area of approximately 10,570 m². The complex will include a main production hall, an administrative building, storage facilities, a repair workshop, and a specialized technical unit.

The issued permit requires the investor to implement strict protective measures during construction and the subsequent operation of the facilities, including accident prevention systems and continuous environmental monitoring.

The production program at the new facility will focus on high-strength geotextiles, geogrids, geocomposites, and special reinforced fabrics for use in large-scale construction and infrastructure projects. Upon full completion of all planned phases, the factory is expected to reach an annual capacity of 2.85 million m² of geotextiles and 12.25 million m² of polymer-coated construction mesh, with plans to achieve 50% of the total target capacity during the first phase of operation.
