The construction company Granit has been awarded the contract to build the strategic Skopje–Blace highway section in North Macedonia

Leading Macedonian construction company Granit has been selected as the contractor for the construction of the strategic highway section connecting the capital Skopje with the Blace border crossing on the border with Kosovo, BalkanEngineer.com learned from the Macedonian publication Slobodni Pechat. The project is of great importance for improving regional connectivity and modernizing transport corridors in Southeast Europe.

The contract calls for the construction of a modern highway route that will replace the current congested and deteriorated road section. As the general contractor, Granit will be responsible for the overall execution of the construction and installation works, including earthworks, asphalt paving, the construction of drainage systems, and the erection of complex engineering structures such as bridges and viaducts along the route. The project will be carried out in accordance with the highest European standards for road safety and infrastructure construction quality.

The new Skopje–Blace highway section will significantly reduce travel time between North Macedonia and Kosovo, while also easing traffic congestion and improving road safety. The project is expected to give a significant boost to trade and economic cooperation in the region, while also engaging a large number of local subcontractors and suppliers of construction materials.
