Chinese company Sungrow and Spanish Gamma Solutions will build a floating photovoltaic plant in Albania. The project has received funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development as well as support from the Albanian government, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from SeeNews.com.

Chinese solar and wind technology company Sungrow and Spanish engineering firm Gamma Solutions will build the 12.9 MW floating photovoltaic plant in Albania. The project will be located on Lake Vau i Dejes, near the hydroelectric station of the same name. The tender to build the station was won by the consortium and managed by Solar Energy of Albania, which is part of the state-owned Albanian energy company KESH.
Financing for the project will be provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development through a €7.48 million loan, while the Albanian government will provide about €1.9 million. The EU's Western Balkans Investment Framework will contribute a grant of €2.6 million for the construction of the PV station.
The project is part of efforts to improve Albania's energy infrastructure and create sustainable energy solutions in the region.
