Serbian steel manufacturer Belt is building a new plant in the industrial zone of Sremska Mitrovica and is doubling its workforce

Serbian steel and welded reinforcing mesh manufacturer Belt has begun construction of a new large-scale production facility in the “Ezero” industrial zone in Sremska Mitrovica. The new facility will cover an area of 6,000 m². Its opening and commencement of regular operations are scheduled for early next year—between February and March. BalkanEngineer.com learned of the progress of the construction work from an official statement by the city’s mayor, Branislav Nedimović, to the Serbian news agency Tanjug.

The new investment will provide a significant boost to the local labor market. As part of the project, approximately 40 new permanent positions will be created for specialists and machine operators. Currently, nearly 30 people are employed at the company’s existing production facility. With the new plant coming online, the total number of Belt employees in Sremska Mitrovica will double, reaching between 70 and 80 people.

The company was founded in 1991 and has many years of experience in the processing and trade of construction metals. Company representatives note that the prompt response and full support from the municipal administration in Sremska Mitrovica were among the key factors in their decision to implement their new development project specifically in the “Ezero” zone. The expansion will enable the company to significantly increase its production capacity to meet the growing demand for rebar in the infrastructure and construction sectors throughout the region.
