Romania's BraveX increases its drone production sevenfold and aims for a leading position in Europe by 2030

Cluj-Napoca tech start-up BraveX.Aero has announced an ambitious plan to expand production of fixed-wing, vertical take-off (VTOL) industrial drones. The company's capacity is planned to reach 500 units per year by 2028, with the goal of becoming one of the European leaders in the sector by 2030, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from a company press release.

The BraveX drones were developed entirely in Romania and achieve up to 4 h autonomous flight and 250 km range - significantly beyond standard multi-rotor systems. They are used in rescue, border control, surveillance and light logistics transport missions for difficult terrain. The portfolio includes five models, including electric, hybrid and VTOL configurations, as well as a jet-powered version.

The company has already attracted 315,000 euro in funding from the Transylvania Angels network and is preparing a new round of investment. BraveX is also developing R&D partnerships in areas such as GPS-free navigation, drone fleet control, and European defence and civil protection cooperation. All major components and software are developed locally to reduce dependence on Asian suppliers.
