A number of companies active in the production of electricity from renewable sources in Romania have submitted several billion euros worth of projects for approval to be financed by the so-called “10 d” mechanism from the EU budget. The total installed capacity of the proposed facilities exceeds 1000 MW, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Romania-Insider.com.

The German company WDP has submitted the largest number of projects – mainly wind farms combined with cogeneration plants for the production of heat and electricity, as well as photovoltaic parks. The facilities will have an installed capacity of 730 MW. The total funding for the projects of WDP amounts to EUR 860 million.

Other companies interested in developing green energy projects with EU funding include Enel Green Power, Elawan Energy, Verbund IWE and Siemens-Gamesa. So far, they have all been active in Romania. The approval of the projects will help the country achieve its goals for complete decarbonization of the economy by 2050.
