Romania is embarking on an ambitious project to build four new bridges that will connect the country with the Republic of Moldova, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from an announcement by the Romanian National Company for Road Infrastructure Management (CNALR). The value of the project is over 1 million euros and aims to significantly improve transport links between the two neighbouring countries.

These facilities will facilitate the passage of both freight and passenger traffic, which is key to the economic development of the region. The construction of the bridges will cover four sections, each of which will be implemented on a separate lot.
The projects cover the routes Stunka (Romania) - Costesti (Moldova), Bumbata (Romania) - Leova (Moldova), Falciu (Romania) - Leca (Moldova) and Raducen (Romania) - Barbeni (Moldova). Each of these sections will be implemented through technical designs that have already been awarded to the CK consortium. LIKE CONSULTING SRL. The consortium will undertake the preparation of the designs and the construction of the bridges, the value of each contract being 221,000 euro excluding VAT.
The project is expected to be completed within 12 months after the signing of the contracts and will be financed entirely from the Romanian state budget. The main objective is to increase transport capacity and optimise logistics flows in the region. The construction of the new bridges will contribute to a better connectivity of Moldova with the existing European TEN-T transport networks. This will not only improve mobility in the region but also support Moldova's economic integration with the European Union.
The project will also have additional benefits, such as streamlining freight traffic to the port of Constanta and reducing congestion at border crossings.
