Representatives of the governments of North Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina held a regional conference on air quality management in the Western Balkans. The meeting took place on 21st November in Skopje, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Denar.mk.

The conference was organized by the government of North Macedonia in conjunction with the World Bank. The event discussed issues, solutions and funding options for projects. The participants reviewed good practices from the EU, as well as from other countries, such as India and China, on innovative approaches to air quality management and in promoting stronger regional cooperation in this area.

The experts also discussed the possibility of creating a holistic approach to dealing with air pollution in the Western Balkans in three main areas: data collection and development of air quality management plans; measures to reduce short-term exposure to polluted air; long-term measures and investments to permanently reduce pollution levels below internationally accepted standards.
