Plans for the construction of Bulgaria – Serbia interconnection

The Energy Ministers of Bulgaria and Serbia – Temenuzhka Petkova and Alexander Antic, announced that the interconnector between the two countries should be put into operation in 2022, BalkanEngineer.com has learned.

 

 

The decision to create the Bulgaria – Serbia interconnection was taken during a summit on energy security in Belgrade, Serbia. The Ministers of both countries agree that building the missing infrastructure is key to achieving both energy security and competitive power in the gas supplies in the region of Southeast European.

 

Recently, the project for the construction of the interconnection Greece – Bulgaria was also launched. The interconnector is planned to be put into commercial exploitation in 2020.

 

Bulgaria is also discussing opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the energy sector with Montenegro.
