Foreign direct investment in North Macedonia reached record levels in the first nine months of 2024, marking significant economic growth for the country, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from SeeNews.com.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in North Macedonia more than doubled year-on-year in the period January-September 2024, reaching 838.2 million euros. This is a significant increase from 348.4 million euros for the same period in 2023, according to central bank data.
In the third quarter of 2024 alone. FDI amounted to €281.6 million, more than four times the €60.3 million reported in the same quarter of the previous year. The Central Bank reports growth in reinvested earnings, intercompany loans and equity as the main drivers of this positive result.
This compares to a full year 2023. FDI in North Macedonia amounted to €616.7 million, down from €745 million in 2022. However, the new data shows a recovery and increased interest of international investors in the country.
