North Macedonia and an investment consortium from the UAE are launching a partnership to develop digital infrastructure in the Balkans

North Macedonia’s ministry for digital transformation has signed an official agreement for cooperation and partnership with the Arabic investment consortium Emirates Investment Group (EIG), BalkanEngineer.com was informed by the state news agency MIA. The agreement has the goal of attracting foreign capital from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to modernize the public sector, development of e-government and the establishment of modern technological infrastructure in the country.

The conditions of the agreement state that the cooperation will have a focus on several key aspects, including the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in administrative processes, improving cybersecurity of state institutions, and digitalization of public services for citizens and businesses. Emirates Investment Group will provide expert support, software solutions and financial cooperation in order to realize these strategic projects.

During the official ceremony regarding signing, it was highlighted that this contract is an important step towards improving the business climate and attracting innovative tech companies to the region. The Macedonian ministry notes that the partnership with a reputable global institution like EIG will accelerate the transition to a modern digital economy and shorten the time required to implement new electronic platforms for serving the public.
