German group Kärcher, a leading manufacturer of cleaning technologies, has officially opened its third production facility in Romania through its local subsidiary CER Cleaning Equipment. The investment amounts to 115 million euros and represents the company's largest project in the country to date, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from the German giant's official announcement.

The new plant, known as CER 3, is located in the town of Curti de Arjes, close to Kärcher's existing two factories, opened in 2016 and 2021 respectively. The facility has a production area of 15,000 m2, bringing the group's total production space in Romania to more than 60,000 m2.
The project is part of the company's long-term strategy to expand production in Europe and strengthen local supply chain integration. The new plant will produce professional cleaning machines as well as important components such as bags, motors, turbines and filters for household vacuum cleaners destined for the European market. "With this investment, we are strengthening our production base in Europe and introducing new technological solutions, including the integration of manufacturing processes for key components that were previously sourced externally," said Hartmut Jenner, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kärcher Group.
The plant is equipped with specialised laboratories for product testing and uses rotational moulding technology for large plastic components.
