German metal component manufacturer PWO Group has officially started construction of a new engineering and manufacturing facility in the town of Čacak, Central Serbia, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from SeeNews.com. The facility will form a technology cluster with the tools company acquired by PWO Group in 2023. The Čačak plant, which will be located on a 100,000 m² plot, will be PWO Group's tenth location worldwide.
Scheduled to begin production by the end of 2025, the new plant aims to manufacture and supply advanced components and systems to customers. The project is expected to create over 500 jobs in the coming years, strengthening the local economy and technology infrastructure. Although the investment value remains undisclosed, the strategic importance of the move is significant.
PWO Group's presence in Serbia expanded in 2023 with the acquisition of Gorenje MDM's assets in Kragujevac, a city located 50 km northeast of Čačak. This acquisition included equipment for the development, engineering, production and testing of sheet metal cold forming tools. The strategy of the PWO Group in Kragujevac focuses on the creation of intelligent tools in the context of Industry 4.0, contributing to the smart factory of the future.
