DP World is expanding its logistics network in Europe with the opening of a strategic operations centre in Bucharest, Romania. The new European control tower will manage the company's extensive transportation system, which combines road, sea, air and rail transport, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from a company press release. With this hub, the Emirati logistics corporation is consolidating its position in the region and strengthening its influence on European trade routes.

The main role of the control centre is to coordinate important processes such as groupage, warehousing, customs brokerage and deliveries. It will rely on advanced digital platforms enabling real-time management and predictive analytics to optimise logistics operations.

The choice of Bucharest as a location is no coincidence - Romania is strategically located for Europe's transport corridors and DP World already has a strong presence in the country. The company operates the port of Constanta, a strategic entry point for cargo from Asia and a link to the Danube, as well as the multimodal terminal in Ayud, which provides efficient transport to the rest of the continent.

The new logistics service will initially cover Romania, Moldova, Serbia, Turkey and Bulgaria, with expansion to Central and Western Europe to follow. DP World has already invested over 200 million euro in Romania, with part of the funds going towards improving logistics infrastructure and building the operations centre.

Global operator DP World has more than 100,000 employees across six continents and operates in Europe in more than 250 locations with a team of more than 25,000 people. Its presence in Romania dates back to 2004, and in 2024 the company opened a new Ro-Ro terminal in the port of Constanta in partnership with local authorities.
