Serbia plans the construction of 320 wastewater treatment facilities, Balkanengineer.com learned from Ekapija.com. The investment is estimated at 5.4 billion euro, due to which potential solutions are being considered, which can be reached through the mutual cooperation of the private, public and civil sectors.
The wastewaters in Serbia pollute with 109 t of zinc, 55 t of copper, 17 t of chromium, 13 t of arsenic, 12 t of lead and 11 t of nickel annually, as shown by the data of the Agency for Environmental Protection. This problem should be solved in the next three years by all the companies in Serbia, which are responsible for that, and these obligations are in line with the EU regulations.
A guide for the treatment of wastewater has been created, aimed at the business, public and other entities, in order to prevent the pollution of waters and the environment and to improve the quality of water resources management. Additionally, the guide contains proposals on how the process should look like, from the planning to the construction of a facility.
