A Chinese company is building a treatment plant in the Serbian capital

China Machinery Engineering Corp. (CMEC), part of Sinomach group, will build the main facility for wastewater treatment in Belgrade, Serbia, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Balkangreenenergynews.com. The Chinese corporation is a specialist in the construction of large infrastructure and energy projects and is looking for opportunities to expand its activities on the Balkans.

 

 

The Chinese company CMEC signed an agreement with the municipality of Belgrade at the beginning of 2020 to start preparatory work on the project for building a system for collecting and treating wastewater. The investment is estimated at 771 million euro. The first phase is worth 271 million euro and involves the construction of the main collector at the treatment plant of the capital.

 

According to the Serbian Minister of mining and energy Zorana Mihajlovic, Serbia offers great opportunities for realizing projects in the water sector, wind energy and mining. The country plans to invest 17 billion euro in such infrastructures.
