On January 16, 2021 came into effect the merger between the car companies Peugeot-Citroen-Opel (Groupe PSA) and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V (FCA), which has a factory in the Serbian city of Kragujevac. Thus was created the company Stellantis, which became the fourth largest car group in the world, BalkanEngineer.com learned from eKapija.com.
According to Sasha Djordjevic of the FCA union in Kragujevac, the merger of the two companies will help for the expansion of sales markets on several continents, as well as increase in production, higher wages and the arrival of a new car model. The union will also attract new subcontractors and will help for the opening of new factories in Serbia.
In 2020, the FCA and PSA decided to join forces to address more easily the challenges in the automotive industry, such as the cost of financing technologies for the production of greener vehicles, as well as the market crisis caused by the global pandemic.
Thus, Stellantis will own the car brands Fiat, Jeep, Dodge, Maserati, as well as Peugeot, Opel and DS.
