Chinese energy storage company Hithium and Bulgarian Solarpro have signed a strategic agreement to supply battery systems with a total capacity of 2 GWh, BalkanEngineer.com learned from a press release by Hithium. The deal will support a number of large-scale projects in Eastern Europe, including Bulgaria, Romania, and North Macedonia, where the integration of renewable energy sources is already developing at an accelerated pace.

As part of the partnership, Hithium will supply its advanced storage solutions, including the Power 6.25 MWh BESS system, which enables efficient management of generated energy and ensures the stability of electricity grids. The new technologies will be used in utility projects by Solarpro, a proven leader in the integration of photovoltaic power and battery systems in the region.

"Long-term storage is the next critical step for the European energy system. Our collaboration with Hithium allows us to combine cutting-edge technology with our many years of experience in implementing large-scale renewable projects," commented Solarpro Chairman Konstantin Nenov.

The two companies already have experience in joint projects – in 2023, they started building a 55 MWh battery system in Razlog. The new agreement builds on this partnership and lays the foundation for even more ambitious initiatives in Southeast Europe.

Hithium, founded in 2019, is among the global leaders in long-term energy storage technologies and operates in over 20 countries. Solarpro, part of the Renalfa Solarpro Group, has implemented over 12 GW of solar capacity and more than 1 GWh of battery systems, making it one of the key players in Europe's energy transition.
