Romanian technology company Visual Fan, through its division Allview Solar Energy, has signed a 9.2 million euro contract to build a large battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 65 MWh. The facility will be for the needs of leading energy and gas supplier Renovatio Trading, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from an announcement on the company's website. According to the contract, the project will be implemented in the town of Toplita, Hargita County, and is scheduled to be completed within seven months.

The system is expected to significantly contribute to the stabilization of the national power grid and accelerate the integration of renewable energy sources into the daily energy consumption in the region. This is the first large-scale energy storage project undertaken by Allview Solar Energy, which already has a solid track record in the development of photovoltaic parks and accompanying solutions.

Renovatio Trading, part of the Romanian Renovatio Group, manages nearly 60% of the country's green energy supply, and this project further strengthens its position in the sustainable energy solutions market. In November last year, the company announced its intentions to build a similar BESS system, but with a capacity of 60.96 MWh.

Visual Fan's project includes all stages - from engineering, procurement and implementation, to full system integration and testing, and will be implemented jointly in partnership with Enersec Technology and TQM Services. The technologies to be used are among the most advanced in the battery and energy flow management field.

In addition to its impressive scale and new technologies, the deal also stands out as one of the first following recent regulatory changes in Romania, under which the National Energy Regulator (ANRE) abolished the double taxation of energy storage in order to accelerate the development of such solutions in the country.
