Albania’s new economic plan calls for factory modernization, the production of innovative products, and export growth

Albania’s Ministry of Finance and Economy has officially launched a new, ambitious National Industrial Strategy. It is aimed at radically modernizing the manufacturing sector and stimulating exports of high-value-added goods, BalkanEngineer.com learned from an official statement by the Albanian state news agency ATA. The strategic document outlines the framework for the country’s economic development in the coming years, with the goal of transitioning from traditional, low-labor-cost manufacturing to a high-tech and innovative industry.

The new strategy places a strong emphasis on the digitization of factories, the implementation of automated processes, and support for the green transition in industry. Through targeted government measures and financial incentives, Albania plans to boost the competitiveness of local businesses in international markets while creating a more attractive environment for foreign investors in sectors such as mechanical engineering, electronics, the chemical industry, and the manufacturing sector. The government also plans to strengthen the link between research and business to accelerate the transfer of technology into actual production.

An important part of the plan is also aimed at helping small and medium-sized enterprises integrate sustainable and environmentally friendly practices that meet European standards. According to the ministry’s economic analyses, the successful implementation of these goals will enable Albanian industry to significantly increase its exports to European Union countries and the Southeast European region. This transition to a knowledge- and innovation-based economy is viewed as a crucial step toward achieving sustainable long-term economic growth and creating new, higher-paying jobs for skilled professionals in the country.
