Filkab: The new Siemens SITOP PSP6200 offers greater flexibility in power distribution along the production line

SITOP PSP6200 is a new application by Siemens, for when DC power supply must be located close to the machine. IP65 protection allows for installation in a production environment, and the three-phase input facilitates the distribution of power supply units across the individual sections of the line. This way every cell is supplied with its own source of 24 V or 48 V DC, in relation to the physical location of the device. "The series includes models rated at 24 V/40 A and 48 V/20 A. Both feature a nominal power output of 960 W, high efficiency, additional overload reserve, and diagnostic capabilities," representatives from Filkab—a company distributing Siemens products— explained to BalkanEngineer.com.

In large production lines, the control cabinet is not always near the electrical consumer. Cabels for 24V or 48 V DC need to reach the sensors, controlling devices and mechanisms for separate machine sections, and increased distance often leads to cables not working optimally. The SITOP PSP6200 allows part of this distribution to be relocated to the machine itself. The device is stored in a die-cast aluminum enclosure with an IP65 protection rating, protecting it against dust and water under the conditions outlined in EN 60529. Input and output cables are factory-connected to the power supply, removing the need to open the housing during installation.  "The robust housing allows the power supply to operate without an additional control cabinet. This saves space around the machine and facilitates its integration into individual production modules," Filkab commented.

The three-phase input covers a range of 400 to 500 V AC, allowing for the device to be connected to the power supply of the production area. Conversion to DC voltage takes place close to the load, while the low-voltage DC lines remain within the machine section. This setup is convenient for lines built from independent cells or expanded in stages. A dedicated power supply can be added to the new module without transferring the entire additional load to the already equipped central cabinet.
