Vivacom, a member of United Group, is a leader in providing high-tech telecommunication services of a new generation - mobile and fixed voice services; high speed broadband internet access through fiber optic, copper and satellite infrastructure; data transmission services via the mobile and fixed networks; and individual telecommunication solutions tailor-made for the client.

We are seeking a motivated Data Engineer to join our dynamic team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with big data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark and Apache Hadoop.
ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion, transformation and storage using Python library for Apache Spark (PySpark).
Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and integrity.
Assist in designing and maintaining storage solutions such as data warehouses, data lakes.
Write and optimize PySpark and SQL scripts for efficient data extraction and processing.
Collaborate with software engineers to integrate data solutions into applications and workflows.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data needs and provide support for ad-hoc data requests, ensuring timely delivery of required datasets or reports.
Monitor data pipelines for performance, failures, and optimization opportunities.
Assist in documentation of data models, business rules, and data lineage to enhance transparency and maintainability using Confluence.
Occasionally contribute to data science tasks, such as exploratory data analysis (EDA), feature engineering, or predictive modelling when needed.
Strong problem-solving skills to navigate complex business and technical environments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics or a related technical field.
Strong knowledge of SQL and experience working with databases.
Basic understanding of the programming language Python.
Familiarity with ETL tools and frameworks such as Apache Airflow or Talend.
Understanding of data modelling, database design, and normalization.
Understanding of distributed data processing frameworks.
Proficiency in English.

ANY OF THE FOLLOWING ABILITIES AND SKILLS WILL BE CONSIDERED AN ADVANTAGE:

Experience with version control systems (Git/Bitbucket) and continuous deployment pipelines (CI/CD).
Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI or Python visualization libraries such as Matplotlib, Seaborn.
Ability to perform basic statistical analysis and hypothesis testing.
Familiarity with basic machine learning concepts such as clustering, regression, classification, dimensionality reduction.
Experience in the marketing field or telecommunication sector.
